I am thrilled to introduce The House of Goretti, a personal venture into the world of loose tea that carries a name deeply rooted in my history and values. Our teas will be available for purchase at Tulip & Tea and from our online store soon!
In a region where every home has a unique name rather than a mere number, my maternal grandmother's house proudly bore the name Goretti House. As the first daughter born into this legacy, it only felt natural that my middle name would be Goretti. This choice pays homage to the countless women who have shaped my world.
The Unfurling Leaves
The dream of introducing a line of tea has been brewing within me for two decades. Long before I entered the culinary world, the idea of creating my own line of tea stirred my soul. However, at that time, the necessary business acumen and funding were elusive, and my path led me to the world of food.
Yet, this dream never waned; it merely waited for the right moment to unfurl its leaves. Now, as the tea leaves are ready to take center stage, The House of Goretti Loose Tea emerges as a testament to patience, perseverance, and the fulfillment of a lifelong dream.
A Symphony of Flavors
The House of Goretti Loose Tea collection is a carefully curated ensemble, each tea representing a unique facet of my journey and the diverse world of tea. Allow me to take you on a journey through the collection, each blend a reflection of passion, heritage, and a love for the art of tea.
White Silver Needle: Dream
Hailing from Fujian, China, the White Silver Needle blend comprises only buds, offering a delicate and dreamy flavor profile. With tasting notes of sweet grass and rose, this tea transcends the ordinary and invites you to dream—a sip that carries you to the serene tea gardens of Fujian.
Oolong Tieguanyin: Silk
Known as the 'Iron Goddess of Mercy,' the Oolong Tieguanyin blend embodies vegetal and buttery notes with a smooth honeyed finish. This less oxidized oolong, boasting a green hue, is a result of modern processing, highlighting a fresher floral flavor profile. Discover the silkiness of Tieguanyin—a tea that represents tradition and craftsmanship.
Green Jasmine Pearl: Le Fleur
From the Fujian province of China, the Green Jasmine Pearl blend is a sensory delight. Hand-rolled young green tea leaves infused with jasmine blossoms, this tea veers toward tropical fruit flavors, creating a harmonious symphony of floral notes and medium-bodied green tea. Le Fleur invites you to indulge in the beauty of nature and the artistry of tea-making.
Earl Grey: Marquise
A tribute to sophistication and the memory of a significant figure in my life, Earl Grey: Marquise is a Ceylon black tea blend infused with Bergamot Essential Oil and Cornflowers. Named after the British Earl Charles Grey, it symbolizes refinement and pays homage to my dad, the Marquise—truly influential in shaping my journey and values.
Chai: Embrace
My custom chai blend encapsulates warmth, tradition, and the essence of connection. Composed of Assam black tea, pepper, ginger, red rose petals, cloves, and cardamom, this chai blend is more than a beverage; it's a love language. Perfectly accompanying the art of "sitting softly," Chai: Embrace invites you to savor the rich tapestry of flavors and embrace the moment.
Tea as a Lifestyle
Tea as a lifestyle encourages mindfulness—an intentional awareness of each moment. The act of selecting a tea, measuring its leaves, and allowing it to steep becomes a form of meditation—an opportunity to slow down, breathe, and cultivate a sense of presence.
The intentional selection of specific blends for different moments or moods adds a layer of mindfulness to daily rituals. Whether it's the robust Chai: Embrace to kickstart the day or the calming White Silver Needle: Dream for a moment of reflection, each tea becomes a tool for crafting your day with intentionality.
Tea and Rituals
Tea, throughout history, has been a symbol of hospitality, unity, and tradition. The House of Goretti seeks to revive and celebrate these age-old rituals. The act of brewing and sharing tea becomes a nod to cultural heritage, a way of preserving traditions, and a means of passing on stories from one generation to the next.
Incorporating tea into daily rituals creates a sense of continuity—a link between the past, the present, and the future. The House of Goretti invites you to infuse your own unique rituals with the warmth and richness of tea, allowing it to become a cherished part of your personal narrative.
Tea and the Senses
Tea engages not only the taste buds but also the other senses. The gentle rustle of leaves as you measure them, the soothing aroma that wafts through the air as hot water meets leaves, and the visual feast of colors as the brew unfurls—all contribute to a multisensory experience.
The House of Goretti encourages you to engage with tea on a deeper level. Allow the aroma to transport you to distant landscapes, let the flavors dance on your palate, and appreciate the visual poetry of tea leaves unfurling. In doing so, you elevate tea from a mere beverage to a symphony that engages all your senses.
As you explore the diverse blends within The House of Goretti collection, I hope you find not just a favorite flavor but a companion in your daily rituals. May each sip be a reminder of the richness of your heritage, the strength of your connections, and the beauty that unfolds when you pause to savor life, one cup of tea at a time.Â
